REAL School For Pre-School!
Garden State Academy is a unique school featuring a Preschool of the Arts and Kindergarten at both locations located in Galloway Township, Northfield and Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. The Master level teachers are enthusiastic about the individual and small group opportunities each student receives during their time at the academy. Our programs utilize a fantastic curriculum.
We encourage you to learn more about our program(s) and all that is offered. Our students grow and learn in a safe, warm "home away from home" environment, building confidence each day.
At Garden State Academy, we draw our inspiration from the Reggio and Montessori approaches to education. The staff members have extensive knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices. We guide children to scaffold on concepts that they already know and then expand their learning and understanding. Our environment provides children with tangible experiences and concrete learning. Jean Piaget once said "...and each time one prematurely teaches a child something he could have discovered for himself, that child is kept from inventing it and, consequently, from understanding it completely."
Accordingly, our curriculum is based largely on students' interests and curiosities. Our children learn science, math, social studies, literacy, the arts, health & wellness, and moral values through an integrated and educated growth.
Additional themes of our school are to connect with nature. When we "bring the outside in", we allow items from the earth into our facility. This means crafting with branches and leaves, or planting seeds and flowers in planters inside during the winter. When we "take the indoors out", we allow our children to connect with the earth outside. We have an outdoor classroom including painting easels and tables, as well as a garden that students participate with. Connecting with the earth is not only educational, but very healthy and inspiring for our students.
